President of Les Clefs d’or Morocco
Les Clefs d'Or
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in The Society of Les Clefs d’Or Morocco. We are a friendly association of hotel concierge who are affiliated to the Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hotels – Les Clefs d’Or®. In the way that Champagne can only come from the Champagne region of France, a Les Clefs d’Or® Concierge can only come from a hotel.
To become a member, an applicant must have served a minimum of five years as a concierge, be proposed by two members who have themselves been members of the Society for at least three years. The applicant will be interviewed and tested by a panel comprised of Committee Members and Honorary Life Members. Once their knowledge, experience and integrity has been ascertained, their application will be presented to the entire Membership for approval. Not an easy process to endure, but once successful the candidate will be able to proudly wear their Golden Keys, exclusively produced by Swiss jeweller Bucherer.
Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hotels (UICH) has roots going back to 1952, when a gathering of the first six
member sections took place on the historic date of April 25, at The Carlton Hotel in Cannes. This was the birth of Union Européenne des Portiers des Grands Hôtels (which later became UICH “Les Clefs d’Or”, the international network as we know it today) and the very first multi-national Congress.
Representatives from the French organisation were joined by prominent concierges from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland. Belgium and Denmark were observing countries and Spain was an invited guest.
This allowed each country represented to go back and form a formal organisation in their respective regions based on the French model.
The members in Morocco, being a French protectorate at the time, although outside of mainland Europe, were regarded as French members. Mr Mohamed Anakar represented the Moroccans and set up an organisation, Les Clefs d’Or Morocco in 1952, which became a member section of the UICH in their own right in 1963.
Membership of Les Clefs d’Or allows our members to network, not only nationally, but internationally through our affiliation with 45 similar national organisations across the globe, totalling around 4000 members, which make up Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hotels (UICH) The International section holds a congress in a different country every year, and we encourage our members to participate, and by so doing, they meet and get to know fellow concierges from around the world. This can often make the difference when seeking to help our guests, wherever their travels take them.

2004 Tangier and Fes
2018 hosted the Pan European congress in Marrakech
We meet every month except July and August; we discuss developments in the tourism and leisure industry, and organise both educational and social events which the members attend with great enthusiasm. What we have most in common is that we have all shared the experience of assisting our hotel guests, and constantly trying to deliver exceptional guest experiences to them.
As well as being professional you will find us friendly, supportive, and charitable. Every year with wonderful help from our Associates, we engage in several humanitarian actions and worthy causes, recently these have included amongst others, participation in the international mountain day, distribution of Ramadan food baskets to the families in need, one day Excursion trip to the benifit of deserving SOS students and offering the essential camping gear to an orphanage…
In Service Through Friendship is the motto of our Society, and that is what you will recognise in each and every member of The Society of Les Clefs d’Or Morocco.
