Alans passions include family, food, wine, culture, travelling and great hospitality.
His career began at the famous Savoy Hotel in London and since then he has managed Concierge teams in London, Edinburgh and for the last ten years, Loch Lomond, Scotland. Every property has proved a great success and culminated in team awards at Cameron House and a proud achievement is being the only concierge in the UK to have been awarded both the prestigious Golden Keys “Concierge of the Year” and “Service through Friendship” Awards.
He is the founding Chairman of the Scottish Golden Keys Society and has seen the region grow to a full home committee with close to 40 Associate members. They are made up from the cream of the Scottish Hospitality fraternity, host regular meetings and the high point of their social calendar is the “St Andrews Ball” in November. A charitable organisation, the Scottish Keys has so far donated over £34k to Scottish charities.
The recently elected European trainer for Les Clefs d’Or Alan is also a qualified group trainer, he has written and implemented an ongoing set of “5 Star Positive language workshops”, they have made an immediate impact and Cameron House have reaped the rewards, especially in team performance, confidence levels and of course their guests experience. He is currently working with The Scottish hospitality apprenticeship organisation providing concierge master classes as well as personally mentoring hospitality rising stars
He is a committee member for HIT Scotland’s “Emerging talent Conference”, this helps provide funding’s for scholarships and bursaries within the hospitality industry.
Alan has launched an exciting and seminal “Concierge apprenticeship scheme”, where he will personally mentor a young person over 3 years to eventually become a “Golden Keys Concierge”. More importantly that person will receive fantastic training at the highest level of hospitality, he looks forward to welcoming some bright new talent to Cameron House and the Concierge profession.
